DESIGN PROCESS MODELS

This model is deriving from the physical behaviour and shape of the water molecules building a cloud, and the idea of accumulation.
THE NATURE OF CLOUD FORMATIONS
The initial speculative investigation addresses the physical performance of air and cloud phenomena. It took off from a fascination of the mystique nature of clouds, by depicting and interpreting sequences in cloud formations, inspired by an photographic investigation about the movement of clouds around Mount Fuji made by Masanao Abe almost 100 years ago.
Horizontally stacked paper frames are weaved together with sewing threads, materializing the cloud in space and time.
SEQUENTIAL STUDIES
The cloud perimeter is sequentially frozen in time and translated into horizontally stacked frames, to make physical and visualize cloud formation in different materials.

The positive and negative of a cloud frozen in time into 18 horizontally stacked mdf sheets.

The sequences materialized with steel thread is turned into a continuous surface, and extended vertically, forming the idea of a second skin and air as structural components.
SECOND SKIN
The sequences are evolved/utvecklade by extending the frames vertically, introducing the idea of a second layer or skin and air as structural components. Allowing the direct interpretation of air as an outcome of a cloud investigation.
INFLATABLE STUDIES
The idea of air as a structural element embodies through these inflatable variations turning the sequence into pneumatic bodies.

PNEUMATIC MEETS NOMADIC
At a point the pneumatic investigation morphs with the exploration of nomadic architecture, creating lightweight, deployable structural hybrids.
